New Normal
For this assignment you will create 3 digital collages using Photoshop software. Your collages should be layered photos using a variety of images to express an idea. You may employ a range of techniques including adjustment layers, shapes, masking and compositing, as well as blending modes. Consider compositional methods and elements when creating each collage. Consider the conceptual framework of each image.
The Scope
The Artist's Statement
In light of the global pandemic, people are creatively working from home, using technology to continue
For my Digital Collage I am playing with this concept of having to use technology to connect with one another during this time and how we also must learn to use technology to create and keep long lasting relationships with one another… again tapping into the topic of humanity.
For my third image I layered three images together. Base layer is a laptop on the counter, the friends hanging out, last layer is of an individual looking out the wind at the friends hanging out. The last two layers are transformed onto the computer.
My photoshop issues…
For my second image I am using this new fab of people using the background function on zoom to show where they would like to be, hide whatever is behind them, etc. Going off the idea of using the function to show case where they would like to be, I am have layered two images – one being the beach and the other being two persons on a couch working on something productive. I am also trying to create some type of glitch effect on this image. With that being said, I am finding the program does not allow you to do so without compressing the file to be one image. Are there other ways to create this effect I am unable to find? Should I just compress the file and turn-in the two PSD? What do you suggest I do to follow through with my idea?
I have also attached below there a mock using different elements to try to create this effect.
On a separate note, the image of the couch and persons has a lot of noice in it (I got it from Unplash) and has been the best image to-date I can find… I am still frequently looking at more images with the resources you gave us. Is there any way you can help/pass on your opinion of what I have thus far? (I have attached a version removing the layers I am using to try to imitate a glitch)
For my first image, I am creating a zoom call with two people who look pensive, the idea is "looking beyond what you see.” Yet, I am having troubles skewing the image to fit inside the laptop. I am doing everything I have done in the past to make it work but it is not sizing up to be the way I need it to fit the screen. I am thinking of making the image being a “small screen” version vs having the call be full screen. But, I would much rather skew it to fit the screen since I want that the be the focus and it be easier to see the “names” of the people in the call. Is there any advice you can give me for this issue?
