My Perfect World
"My Perfect World" is a poem that talks about a silver lining difference between dreams and reality for a Senior/Junior in high school. In the student's dream, they create a world that is accepting of them and is successful at work, school, and life in general. This is a false and superficial reality.
The Scope
My world is perfect
I got a 1600 on my SAT
I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA
People talk to me all the time
I have accomplished things most teens don’t until they’re 30
I love my job, school and life
I have received recognition from my CEO
I have also received recognition on the national level as a scholar
Colleges call me – offering full rides
It’s just perfect and wonderful…
My parents fight every night
They say I was a mistake
My siblings can’t stand to see me
I don’t have any friends
I’m labeled as the weirdo at school
Teachers don’t even acknowledge me
I hate being at my job – I can’t stand being bullied
I’m “ugly” according to every girl that has seen me
My life is just perfect and better in my imagination
